comprised of 10 hospitals and more than 50 clinics across east
Texas. With nearly 7,500 employees and over 1,000 licensed
in-patient beds, UT Health East Texas provides healthcare services
to thousands of patients annually through our hospitals, clinics,
Level 1 trauma facility, air emergency fleet and EMS service in a
metropolitan service area of a quarter-million people.
UT Health East Texas is seeking an experienced Facilities Manager.
We are looking for your experience, knowledge and patient care
skills in one of our clinics where you will be responsible for:
Responsibilities
The Facilites Manager plans, implements, coordinates and manages
all mechanical operations, maintenance, communications, energy
management, and manpower development programs for a facility,
campus or portfolio of buildings.
- Manage technical staff, including hiring, training, personnel
development
- Manage operations and maintenance for assigned facilities and
assists in development of operating and capital budgets
- Assist in operations and maintenance issues, troubleshooting
and problem solving as required
- Recommend/implement improvements for preventive maintenance
programs on an on-going basis and develop/maintain effective
building-specific maintenance and safety procedure manuals
- Coordinate maintenance efforts with outside contractors, tenant
finish personnel and technicians
- Oversee all building systems including fire/life safety,
plumbing, HVAC and electrical issues and must remain current with
latest HVAC technology trends
- Respond to emergency situations (fire, evacuation, equipment
failure etc.) and customer concerns
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, requisitions,
government agencies and company directives as relates to building
operations
- Develop specifications and assists in solicitation and
administration of maintenance/repair service contracts
- Provide formal supervision to individual employees within
single functional or operational area
- Responsible for staff recruitment, selection, promotion,
advancement, corrective action and termination.
- Plan and monitor appropriate staffing levels and utilization of
labor, including overtime
- Prepare and deliver performance appraisals for staff. Mentor
and coach team members to further develop competencies.
- Complies with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental
agency and facility directives related to building operations and
work safety.
Qualifications
Education/Certification
- High school diploma or GED
- Bachelor's degree preferred
Experience/Qualifications
- Previous experience leading maintenance team, 3-5 years
preferred
- 5-10 years plant operations, mechanic experience; healthcare
industry preferred
- Proficient in two or more trades such as HVAC, plumbing
- Background in regulatory compliance and state codes
- Must have active and valid Driver License and clean driving
record

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be physically able to balance, bend, climb, crawl, crouch,
kneel, reach, sit, squat, stand, twist, and walk.
- Must have sensory ability to distinguish hot, cold, range of
temperature, surfaces, fine motor skills, manual dexterity, and
detect/distinguish odors.
- Must be able to carry or lift up to 50 pounds routinely (50% of
the time) and on occasion (5% of the time) up to 100 pounds.
- Must be able to push or pull over 100 pounds frequently (20% of
the time).
- Must be able to work and follow OSHA guidelines while in a
hazardous environment(s) such as electrocution potentials,
mechanical energies, bloodborne/airborne pathogens, dust and
inclement weather, marked changes in temperature and/or humidity,
radiation, fumes/vapors, sharp instruments/tools, hazardous
liquids, and operating devices.
- Must be able to hear speech, distinguish sounds, and
speak.
- Must have near vision far vision, depth perception, and be able
to distinguish colors.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
- Body substance isolation must be practiced
