We boldly go. This Systems Engineering Leader will help analyze customer input and competitive position to drive clear MRDs and MGPPs for our product lines. They will assess interactions between platforms to drive an optimized product solutions and increase use of Modular Product Architecture to drive economies of scale. Also, the leader will maintain visibility to the regulatory environment, industry trends and changing markets conditions from a system design perspective. Core Job Responsibilities:

  • Drive clear MRD requirements Pre-G0 by partnering with Product Management and Platform Engineering teams
  • Partner with PGTs to maintain competitive positioning data for major platforms
  • Partner with Consumer Insights team to use VOC data to create fact-based approach to MRD requirement development
  • Partner with regulatory and sustainability activities
  • Work with the Chief Engineer s Office to incorporate Systems Engineering Standard Work into IDR 1 & 2 requirements
  • Develop best practices & standard work for total system simulation excellence
  • Develop Standard Work process and checklists for key system interaction criteria
  • Responsible for maintaining Total System Cost Requirements; Work across PGTs to optimize overall system design to maintain relative cost competitiveness vs competitive landscape
  • Provide visibility to platform, subsystem and component change opportunities (as appropriate)
  • Maintain visibility to the regulatory environment, industry trends and changing market conditions then communicate to Engineering teams
  • Build the Trane Systems Engineering Team - Help define application, optimization and algorithm needs and communicate to Product Teams
  • Coach, develop and mentor 1-3 engineers
  • Collaborate with NPD Finance & Prod Management to ensure accurate business cases Minimum Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and a minimum of 10 years engineering experience, including 5 years of leadership and/or design engineering experience, is required.
    • People management or Team Leader experience is required (direct reporting relationship is preferred).
    • Demonstrated exceptional interpersonal skills, team management, and effective communication. Key Competencies:
      • Ability to think strategically and to drive collaborative working relationships
      • Experience working across multiple functions, regions and with multiple stakeholders to drive change
      • Coaching and mentoring within engineering as well as other functions to build a strong team
      • Strong business acumen to focus on overall business objectives
