Provider (APP) (NP or PA)Program: Healthy Start Tyler (HST)Status:
Part-Time ( 24 hours per week)Education: Graduate of an accredited
Physician Assistant Program and certified by the National
Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) or
Nurse Practitioner Program and certified by the American Nurses
Credentialing Center or the American Academy of Nurse
Practitioners. Employees shall meet the requirements of their Board
of Medical Examiners; and be licensed to the practice medicine
without restrictions within the state or federal
installation.Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of Nurse
Practitioner experience in women's health and/or family practice is
required. Prior RN experience is preferred. Experience with
reproductive health and adult populations to include completing
physical assessments are required. Bilingual (Spanish and English)
communication skills are required.
Summary: To provide effective, efficient and appropriate medical
services to BCFS Health and Human Services - Healthy Start Tyler
(HST) clients in order to serve program needs.To successfully

Functions:
1. Possess a clear understanding of Maternal and Child Health
Bureau, Division of Healthy Start and Perinatal Services
protocols/guidelines for medical services rendered to
pre-conceptional, inter-conceptional, and prenatal clients with
focus on reproductive health and the prevention or treatment of
diseases that are specific to women.
2. Ability to provide prenatal care, postpartum care, wellness and
preventative care, treatment for sexually transmitted diseases, and
family planning services.
3. Ability to exhibit clear communication skills with clinic staff,
physicians, and HST staff.
4. Establishes health care plans for service population utilizing
best practice provider guidelines.
5. Complete accurate documentation in accordance with agency
policies and procedures, contract and regulatory requirements and
standards and program timeline requirements.
6. Review, write and update medical protocols and procedures in
collaboration with Professional Management Team.
7. Meet all pre-determined deadlines required by program and
federal partnersMeasurable Deliverables:
1. Practice of medicine within the scope of license
2. Practice of medicine within the scope of training
3. Practice of medicine within the scope of credentialing
4. Practice of medicine in accordance with the current standards of
care
5. Meet and maintain all federal and state regulatory guidelines
and standards applicable to this position.
6. See patients in the mobile medical unit at designated areas
within targeted zip codes.
7. Supervision of emergency medical technician.
8. Provide medical services within the scope of licensing,
training, and credentialing.
9. Demonstrate the ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate
individual patient care appropriate to the age of patients served
by demonstrative knowledge of the principles of growth and
development.
10. Conduct medical examinations and immunizations according to
contract guidelines.
11. Communicates appropriately with the person served regardless of
their age.
12. Complete charting and required paperwork in a timely manner and
per guidelines.
13. Promote a safety-conscious work place and maintains good
housekeeping practices.
14. Abide by all appropriate policies & procedures, with an
emphasis on strict adherence to ethical codes
15. Performs other duties as required or assignedCredentials,
Skills and Abilities:
1. Maintain current licenses and certificates required for the
position including, but not limited to:
a. Good standing as an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) with the
state of Texas Medical Board
b. Current BLS certifications, ACLS and PALS preferred
c. Current DEA certificate without restriction
2. Pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug screens
throughout employment.
3. Provide proof of work eligibility status upon request.
4. Pass a pre-employment and biennial criminal background
checks.
5. Demonstrate the ability to:
a. Respond sensitively and competently to the service population's
cultural and socio-economic characteristics
b. Work collaboratively with other staff members, service
providers, professionals and clients
c. Communicate effectively in writing and verbally in English and
Spanish
d. Work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining control and
professional composure at all times and making decisions based on
the needs of the program and service population
e. Maintain computer literacy required to meet the responsibilities
of the position
f. Work effectively and without intensive supervision both
independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team
6. Must complete and sign Operations Policy and Procedure review
and certification
7. Must provide current physical-medical release and provide proof
of immunizations, titers or declinations for the following:
a. MMR
b. Varicella
c. HepB
d. HepA
e. Tetanus
f. PPD or Chest X-ray
g. Meningococcal (preferred)
8. Must be able to work in a team environment
9. Must be able to maintain professional people skills, oral,
written, listening, and non-verbal communication skillsNothing in
