Our UT Health Tyler hospital is seeking an experienced SPD
Supervisor. We are looking for your experience, knowledge and
patient care skills in our Sterile Processing Department where you
will be responsible for:
* Assists manager with oversight of daily operations of the
Central Sterile Department. * Assists manager with oversight for
all reprocessing activities of instrumentation, supplies and
equipment used for patient care. * Ensures staff follows
established procedures regarding receipt, collection and
transportation of all contaminated instruments and supplies. *
Ensures operation and cleanliness of all department equipment. *
Other duties may be assigned.
Duties, Accountabilities, and Responsibilities include the
* Assists in coordination of daily workflow of the department. *
Demonstrates effective leadership skills and professional growth. *
Assists with the administration and overall operation of the
department. * Each Supervisor will provide shift report regarding
coordination of daily workflow activities. * Participates in the
implementation of and assists with the management of the instrument
management system (SPM). * Reviews, corrects, standardizes, and
manages count sheets for all current and future instruments sets. *
Assists in establishing the instrument repair program to reduce
overall instrument maintenance, repair and replacement costs. *
Assists in establishing instrument requisitions and purchasing
process with best cost, high quality instrument selection in
accordance with established hospital policies and guidelines.
* Associate's degree in Surgical Technology
* Requires extensive knowledge of practices regarding
Decontamination, Sterilization, and Instrument Storage.
* Requires knowledge of surgical procedures, medical
terminology, infection control practices and standards, as well as
* Requires knowledge of State and Federal regulations and
Professional Recommended Practices.
* Customer friendly * Must be in good health and able to
physically complete a fitness assessment. * Strong verbal and
written communication skills * Active listening, hearing and visual
skills * Must use written and/or verbal sources of information *
Good problem solving skills * Basic personal computer skills and
comfort with Microsoft Windows operating system; database and word
processing skills required * Strong time management skills *
Ability to think strategically and act tactically * Ability to

Certification and Licensure:
* Three to Five years of hospital based sterile processing
experience or CST experience in a Trauma Level 1,2, or 3
* Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) by the National Board of
Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)
* Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) by the
International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materials
* Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
* Comply with regulatory requirements, guidelines, and
