With nearly 7,500 employees and over 1,000 licensed in-patient beds, UT Health East Texas provides healthcare services to thousands of patients annually through our hospitals, clinics, Level 1 trauma facility, air emergency fleet and EMS service in a metropolitan service area of a quarter-million people. Our UT Health Rehabilitation hospital is seeking an experienced PPS Coordinator. We are looking for your experience, knowledge where you will be responsible for: The PPS Coordinator is responsible for facilitating accurate assessment and documentation of Rehabilitation Inpatients’ functional status, comorbidities and case mix group.The scope of assessment includes monitoring of prescreening, medical, rehabilitation nursing and therapy documentation, rehabilitation impairment category (RIC) coding, and documentation of inpatient rehab medical necessity by the patient care team.The PPS Coordinator works with Director of Clinical Operations to develop, organize and implement education programs to provide comprehensive orientation and ongoing continuing education and competency of clinical staff related to functional assessment skills, and associated documentation to support the rehabilitation admission and continued stay. DUTIES, ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:Maintains current knowledge of Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility (IRF) Patient Assessment Instrument (PAI), Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) rules and regulations for IRFs and other applicable regulatory and accrediting organizations.Collaborates with Director of Clinical Operations to prepare, organize and conduct functional assessment and rehabilitation documentation orientation and continuing education.Interacts with referral coordinators, physicians, rehabilitation clinicians and medical record coders to identify the appropriate Rehabilitation Impairment Category (RIC) and comorbidities.Gathers data from the medical record to complete all aspects of the Rehab Patient Assessment Instrument (IRFPAI) including the QRPs; completes transmission of the IRFPAI data to CMS and notification of transmission to designated departments in appropriate timeframes.Attends all Team Conferences to collect data regarding diagnosis, comorbidities, and complications and documents any pertinent additional information to support the Individualized Care Plans, Completes Team Conference Notes following department guidelines.Provides quality customer service by utilizing good communication skills and technical knowledge to support UTHET and department objectives. Education:Bachelors in Health Science related field.Licensure in the State of Texas as an Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, or Speech Language Pathologist, or Registered Nurse.Experience:Excellent analytical, problem solving, organizational and communication skills. Must be able to uphold and communicate principles of rehabilitation services to all levels within and outside the hospital system.Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate ideas, problems, instructions (written and oral).Ability to analyze situations, evaluate data, recommend, and implement courses of action that would improve the functioning of the company.Ability to use sound judgement in decision making.Strong ability to build physician and clinical relationshipsCertification and Licensure:Licensure in the State of Texas as an Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, or Speech Language Pathologist, or Registered Nurse.
