Job Description Job Description The purpose of completing an
orthopedic physical therapy residency at Direct Orthopedic Care
(DOC) is to advance clinical expertise, professional development,
and patient care excellence. Our residency program aligns with the
principles and guidelines established by the American Physical
Therapy Association (APTA) and is designed to foster comprehensive
growth in a dynamic and supportive environment. Program Goals &
Objectives The objective of the orthopedic physical therapy
residency is to enhance clinical expertise by providing advanced
training in areas such as manual therapy, dry needling, and pain
management, while fostering evidence-based practice to improve
patient outcomes. It supports professional development by preparing
residents for Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) certification,
cultivating leadership skills, and promoting interdisciplinary
collaboration. The residency emphasizes patient-centered care
through individualized treatment and the integration of patient
education. Additionally, it encourages participation in research
and innovation, promoting clinical research and the dissemination
of findings within the orthopedic field. Curriculum The residency
program structure includes over 1,500 hours of clinical experience
in orthopedic physical therapy, allowing residents to manage
diverse patient caseloads. Residents will receive 150 hours of
one-on-one mentoring, case reviews, and research discussions, along
with quarterly evaluations to guide clinical skill development. The
program also features 300 hours of didactic learning through online
and in-person sessions, access to APTA resources, MedBridge, and
continuing education. Hands-on training in advanced techniques is
provided across various clinical settings. Additionally, career
guidance and support for personal well-being are integral to
fostering both professional and personal growth. Ideal Candidate
The Direct Orthopedic Care Orthopedic Physical Therapy Residency
Program is seeking highly energetic physical therapists who are
passionate about orthopedics and looking to improve their clinical
skills in addition their knowledge on how to build a successful
nonoperative orthopedic surgical practice. While this opportunity
will allow exposure to the operating room, collaboration with DOC
surgeons and APPs, the primary focus will be on clinical orthopedic
care. Admissions Our program accepts applications on a
rolling-basis. An interview will be awarded based on evaluation of
the applicants CV, educational transcripts, personal statements,
and letters of recommendation. PT residents who are accepted must
apply for a Texas License. Requirements Graduate from an CAPTE
accredited physical therapy program Transcripts from physical
therapy program 2 letters of recommendation Current CV Personal
