This 12-week travel nursing assignment offers the opportunity to work with Med/Surg patients on the Cardiac Stepdown/IMC floor while enjoying the vibrant community and scenic beauty of East Texas./n /n/nCompensation/n /n - Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1620–$1660 per week/n /n/nCardiac Stepdown RN Job Details/n /n - Location: Athens, Texas 75751 (East Texas healthcare jobs)/n - Facility Setting: Cardiac Stepdown / Intermediate Care (IMC) – Med/Surg Floor/n - Assignment Type: Travel RN Contract/n - Contract Duration: 12 weeks (Start: 11/17/2025 – End: 2/9/2026)/n - Shift: Night shifts, 3x12-hour (19:00 – 07:00)/n - Weekly Hours: 36/n - Patient Population: Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics/n - Unit Size: 50 beds, daily census 18-25/n /n/nRegistered Nurse Qualifications/n /n - Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Texas or compact state/n - Minimum 2 years of recent Cardiac Stepdown or Intermediate Care (IMC) experience/n - BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications required/n - NIHSS (Stroke Scale) certification preferred/n - EPIC electronic health record (EHR) charting experience required/n - Previous travel RN experience required/n - Proficient in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, oxygen therapy, and rapid response protocols/n - Experience with peripheral and central line care, chest tube management, and wound care/n - Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE protocols/n - Applicants must reside outside specified local counties (see job details for exclusions)/n /n/nCardiac Stepdown Nurse Responsibilities/n /n - Deliver direct nursing care to cardiac stepdown patients, including cardiac monitoring and management of cardiac drips (no titration)/n - Perform non-invasive airway management and oxygen protocol management/n - Administer medications and blood products according to hospital protocols/n - Utilize EPIC for accurate computerized documentation and patient record-keeping/n - Initiate rapid response teams as needed for patient emergencies/n - Manage peripheral and central lines, chest tubes, and tracheostomies/n - Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, including respiratory therapists and unit secretaries/n - Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5-6 to ensure high-quality patient care/n - Float to similar Med/Surg or IMC units as required/n /n/n /n Experience the welcoming atmosphere of Athens, Texas, and enjoy local dining, beautiful parks, and outdoor recreation during your travel nursing assignment.
