Provides for the delivery of care to a group of patients and evaluates the multi-disciplinary care in a systematic fashion, in order to improve outcomes. The care is delivered within the framework of hospital philosophy in concert with departments and services within the hospital. Responsible for assuring hospital compliance with all local, state and federal regulations as well as accrediting organizations.--DUTIES, ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
  • Assumes accountability for the delivery of patient care on assigned areas.
  • Assumes accountability for staff education, utilization of resources, patient satisfaction and compliance with state/national standards.
  • Serves as a hospital/community expert/resource for their specialty area.
  • Utilizes effective communication with all members of the healthcare team to coordinate quality improvement efforts.
  • Coordinates the movement of the patient through the system from admission through a timely discharge.--SUPERVISION:
    • RN, LVN, Monitor Technician, PCA, Nurse Tec QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:Education:
      • Graduation from an approved school of nursing and licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas.-- Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.Experience:
        • At least two years recent experience in the nursing specialty.Preferred Experience:
          • Three years of Trauma ICU nursing experience.
          • Two years of Charge Nurse experience.
          • Supervisory experience with knowledge of personnel management preferred.----Certification and Licensure:
            • Registered Nurse with a current license to practice in the State of Texas.
            • BLS Required--PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:------------------Extensive walking and standing, physical/emotional stamina.----Exposure to communicable diseases and biohazardous materials, danger of infection from contaminated materials, falls on slippery floors; possibility of injury from moving heavy equipment or patients.------ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:----------------This is an OSHA category I position.----Body substance isolation must be practiced.
