Everybody is somebody here.Representing the very best in healthcare, UT Health East Texas is comprised of 10 hospitals and more than 50 clinics across east Texas.-- With nearly 7,500 employees and over 1,000 licensed in-patient beds, UT Health East Texas provides healthcare services to thousands of patients annually through our hospitals, clinics, Level 1 trauma facility, air emergency fleet and EMS service in a metropolitan service area of a quarter-million people.--POSITION SUMMARY:Responsible for emergency patient transfer coordination and communications for the UT Health East Texas System.-- Coordinators will work with Emergency Department, EMS, AirOne, Medical Staff, and any referring hospitals to accomplish a rapid and efficient transfer.---- This entails effective communication with the Medical Staff and all ancillary Emergency Service Staff in promoting safe and appropriate transfer acceptance and delivery.-- Personnel will coordinate Rapid Response Code Activations, including Trauma, STEMI, Code Stroke, and the Radiology Team.---- Personnel will also coordinate for Emergency Safety and activate for Disaster Preparedness in compliance with the Safety Policy and Procedure.-- Personnel will maintain and verify the Physician On-Call Active listing for referral and Hospital distribution.-- Personnel will understand and support the UT Health East Texas Mission, Vision, and Values and adhere to hospital policies and procedures.-- Some overtime and call-back may be required.--DUTIES, ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
    • Receives Transfer Hotline Calls, coordinates with RN staff of duty, gaining initial transfer information.
    • Receives HEARN and 800 systems radio reports and relays to the appropriate unit and/or physician in a rapid, efficient manner. Notifies the appropriate unit and/or physician of changes in the patient's condition while en route.
    • Maintains Data Call Log intake in the computer system databank, including the summary detail and patient and physician demographics.
    • Coordinates with UT Health EMS Communications Center when a transferring hospital or agency receives a helicopter transfer request.
    • Maintains status of AirOne helicopters regarding weather and maintenance status and crew members on duty for each aircraft and keeps the Program Director informed of changes and important information as necessary.
    • Coordinates Rapid Response and Emergency Test pages and Code Activations with databank entry.
    • Maintains and verifies active listing Physician On-Call Schedules for referral and Hospital Distribution.
    • Other duties as assigned ResponsibilitiesQUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:Education:
      • Paramedic LicenseExperience:
        • 1-2 years in emergency setting preferred
        • 1-2 years previous EMS and/or communications experience preferred--Certification and Licensure:
          • Paramedic licensure required.

                        • Must use written, verbal and nonverbal sources of information; visual and auditory sources of information; must use oral communication to perform work; must possess digital dexterity and have the ability to make general decisions in the absence of specific directions.
