UT Health East Texas brings world-class healthcare to the region making the quality, size, location and diversity of the system an ideal opportunity for those interested in the future of healthcare.DUTIES, ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:* Communicates within and across departments to ensure information is shared for effective operations.* Functions as a centralized resource manager to all departments within Surgical Services.* Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to direct and supervise multi-departmental staff members delivering care.* Oversees and/or teaches others specialized knowledge and skills necessary to perform techniques and routines in area of specialty; acts as a preceptor and resource for department processes.* Provides operational management of daily patient care services to assure high levels of patient satisfaction. Assists in the management of financial, capital, and human resources directed by the department managers and directors.* Assesses, monitors, and evaluates systems for delivery of care. Leads/participates in departmental performance improvement activities and integration of services.* Assists in development of patient care standards of practice and personnel performance. Ensures services meet established nursing and surgical standards of care and quality standards.* Supervises nursing staff and/or other non-licensed medical or support personnel. Responsible for assisting in performance evaluations and disciplinary actions in coordination with the clinical Managers. Assists to ensure that new employees are oriented and trained appropriately.* Ability to make tactical decisions around the allocation and direction of the work of supervised employees using established guidelines, policies and /or procedures.* Communicates regularly with physicians, departmental managers, and directors as required. Body substance isolation must be practiced.
