Job Description Job Description Degree in American Sign Language
(ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1
year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings.
Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be
considered. A full-time, on-site Sign Language Interpreter (SLI)
position is available in the Williams County school district,
supporting students from elementary through high school levels,
including 1:1 pediatric settings. This role plays an essential part
in bridging communication gaps for Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH)
students, providing accurate interpretation between spoken language
and American Sign Language (ASL) in classrooms, assemblies, and
extracurricular activities. Key Responsibilities: Facilitate
effective communication between DHH students and their educators,
peers, and staff. Interpret spoken language to sign and sign to
spoken language in various school settings. Support individual
students in 1:1 environments, ensuring accessibility to the
curriculum. Collaborate with teachers and support staff to enhance
educational experiences. Participate in school events and
activities to maintain an inclusive environment. Desired
Qualifications: Valid Sign Language Interpreter certification or
relevant credentials. Experience working in educational settings,
particularly with elementary, middle, and high school students.
Ability to effectively interpret in both group and individual
instructional contexts. Preferred EIPA (Educational Interpreter
Performance Assessment) score of 3.5 or higher. Strong
communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to
student success. Location: Williams County, Nashville, TN area
